One thing I think contributes to the success of Lovecraft and his inimitable style is that Americans think years counts as history. If I had to choose only one author to read for the rest of my life, I think I would choose H P Lovecragt and be perfectly happy. This shows a maturity and self-confidence that is lacking in some rinieblas the earliest works in this book. Lovecraft Works originally published in Weird Tales Short stories adapted into films. Most of it is manageable. No light—no glass—see that steeple—that tower—window—can hear—Roderick Usher—am mad or going mad—the thing is stirring and fumbling in the tower—I am it and it is I—I want to get out.

His researches reveal that the church has a sinister history involving a cult called the Church of Starry Wisdom and is dreaded by the local migrant inhabitants as being haunted by a primeval evil.

The story is about tiniieblas man named Blake, who decides to break into an abandoned Church, despite the numerous warnings from his neighbors not tineblas enter.
The being can only go abroad in darkness, and is hence constrained to the tower at night by the ttinieblas of the lights of the city. It is a world filled with the darkest shadows, unnameable horrors, forbidden knowledge, and edritch revelations which send men insane.
Blake also discovers an ancient stone artifact known as the “Shining Trapezohedron ” which has the property of being able to summon a terrible being from the depths of time and space.
He wrote a couple of collaborations further, some poetry and an essay. It is a world haunted by the Elder Gods, those shadowy, alien, ill-intentioned beings who are always lurking just beyond the corner of your eye, or in the darkest depths of the sea.
I must say he was coming well into his own, so it’s a real pity his work was cut short. He is well respected, largely studied and often cited. Several classic tales of eldritch and cosmic terrors from the haunter of Providence.
